Hi, my name is Dave and my family and I have recently relocated to the island of Kauai. I am a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and a  bassist and music teacher with 30 years of professional playing experience and 10 years teaching full-time. I fell in love with the bass guitar at 13 and by 18 was gigging around the Bay Area in an 8-piece funk band. The Bay Area’s diverse music scene proved a fertile environment  to immerse myself in rock rock n’ roll, folk, pop, blues, jazz, funk and R&B. I started Small Steps Music in 2012 in Redwood City, CA and I absolutely fell in love with teaching music to people of all ages. I sincerely hope to be able to contribute to the music education on this beautiful island. Being new to living on Kauai, I am excited to build community and offer my experience and passion to teaching music here!
